Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
This policy explains what information FairHome LLC ("FairHome") collects, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It covers the FairHome website and the account and tools behind it.
Who is responsible
FairHome LLC operates FairHome and is responsible for the information described here. Send privacy questions and requests to privacy@gofairhome.com.
A public property check
A property check does not need an account. It records the address you select, the parcel it resolves to and the result FairHome produces. Your browser keeps a small token so you can come back to your result.
Checks are kept for 30 days and then deleted. The property facts in a result come from public government records, and looking up a property says nothing about who you are or whether you own it.
Information you give us
Contact form: the name, email address, topic and message you send, so we can reply.
Account: your username, email address, password, first and last name and mailing address, and a phone number if you choose to add one. Your password is stored hashed, so it cannot be read back. You can add sign-in protection such as a passkey, and choose which alerts reach you in the app or by email.
Your records: properties you save, the reviews and analyses we run for them, appeal records, documents and photos you upload (PDF, JPEG and PNG), maintenance and equipment records, the utilities, bills and usage you enter or upload, and your conversations with FairHome AI.
Utility data you connect
If you connect a utility, such as ComEd through Green Button Connect, you sign in and approve the sharing at the utility. FairHome never sees your utility password. It receives only the usage and billing data you authorize, and stores the access the utility grants so it can keep your records current.
You can stop at any time by disconnecting in FairHome or at the utility's own site, after which FairHome collects no new data. Data already collected stays in your records until you remove it or close your account.
FairHome AI
If you use FairHome AI in your account, the questions you type and its replies are stored with your account. To answer, FairHome sends the AI provider it uses (Anthropic or OpenAI) your question, the earlier messages of the conversation, FairHome's instructions, passages from FairHome's own documents, and the information it looks up for you about the property you have selected, such as its assessments, reviews, appeal windows, tax bills, utilities and bills, or maintenance and equipment records.
The assistant reads only what your account can already see in FairHome, and it cannot change your records, file anything or contact anyone. FairHome does not use your conversations to train AI models. Conversations are deleted after a set period without new messages, and you can delete any conversation yourself at any time.
Information collected automatically
To keep the service secure, we record technical details of requests, such as your IP address and sign-in attempts, and the actions taken on your account.
FairHome does not use advertising or analytics trackers. It uses a sign-in session cookie and a security cookie that protects forms, both needed for the site to work. It also uses your browser's local storage to remember choices such as your language, display settings, current property and your public check.
How we use information
We use your information to provide FairHome: to show property information, run analyses, prepare appeal materials, send verification, security and reminder messages, give you support, keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Who we share information with
Service providers that help us run FairHome, such as hosting, email delivery, address search, imagery and the AI provider behind the assistant. The address text you type is sent to Geoapify to suggest matches, your browser loads property photos from Google Street View, and assistant conversations are sent to Anthropic or OpenAI as described above. We give providers only what they need to do their job.
Utilities and government offices, only when you ask us to send information or when it is needed for a filing you choose to make. Your connected utility receives only the requests needed to deliver the data you authorized.
FairHome staff, limited to those who need access to support you or operate the service.
Others when the law requires it, to protect rights, safety or the service, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information unless we tell you otherwise.
How long we keep information
Public property checks are kept for 30 days. Email verification and sign-in tokens are kept for 7 days. Notifications are kept for 2 years. Security and audit records are kept for 7 years, and records of background jobs for 1 year.
When you close your account, we anonymize your profile, delete your sign-in credentials, end your sessions, and delete your maintenance records and attachments, utilities, assistant conversations and notifications. We keep property tracking, reviews, appeal records, uploaded appeal documents and audit records, because appeal submissions and authorization records may need to be retained to show what was filed and on what authority. Documents you uploaded may still contain your name.
Deleted information can remain in encrypted backups for a limited time until they are overwritten on their normal schedule.
Your choices and rights
In your account settings you can edit your profile, change your email, choose notification channels, download a copy of your profile, settings and tracked property identifiers, and request account closure. You can also remove properties, disconnect utilities and delete assistant conversations.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, get a copy of it, or object to some uses. Email privacy@gofairhome.com to make a request. We may need to verify it is you, and we will reply within the time the law allows. If we cannot fulfil part of a request, such as deleting a record we must retain, we will tell you why.
Security
Connections to FairHome are encrypted. Passwords are hashed, sign-in can be protected with passkeys and multi-factor authentication, uploaded files are scanned for malware, access is limited by account, and backups are encrypted and stored off-site.
No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Children
FairHome is for property owners and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
When we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for material changes we will tell you by email or in the app.
